About

The Symphonic Winds was formed in 2014 as an extra-curricular honor band in District 90. The Symphonic Winds meets on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm at Carriel Jr. High School. The Symphonic Winds performs several concerts and events throughout the year.  Participation is contingent on an audition. The audition material consists of the IMEA Scale Sheet and current year IMEA Etudes.  Auditions are by appointment during the first 2 weeks of school.

This is an incredible opportunity for students to play challenging music with a high achieving, talented group of their peers!

The ensemble has performed at the 2016 Illinois Music Education Conference, as well as the University of Illinois Superstate Band Festival in May of 2016 and 2017.  The D90 Symphonic Winds has gained recognition as one of the finest Jr. High Bands in the State of Illinois.
